More Power for my 1.8 Sport

    Hi

Now i currently have 115bhp I guess as standard, but I want more.

So the 2 obvious things to consider are:
    1. Air box mod
    2. exhaust

So firstly what exhaust do I need? Full system with a De-cat?

Secondly say I have £500 available after these 2 simple mods, what can be acheived with this cash in terms of bhp increase?

    Ideas please chaps,
    Cheers

Intake and Exhaust is the obvious start, as highlighted already. Cams and head work after that, then if thats not enough TB's or Carbs - or Turbo power !

We have a 115bhp as standard. We have a Jetex Cat back exhaust, Jetex induction cone and a diet of Optimax (how much difference this makes, I don't know) On the rollers we got 126bhp.
why do today what you can...... I'll finish this later

Pipercross panal filter / PVD £20
Vectra C diesel inlet pipe £17
    derestricted airbox - 20 mins

Peco custom duplex exhaust system £300
Rolling road : Peak reformance where Zlet.co.uk went:
120 at the wheels ets 145 bhp at the flywheel, most people dont beleve it so just let the car do the talking, i do feel its a little high.
I dont use super because i dont think its makes a difference, just uses more fuel. but i do use fuel additives now and again.

did use a induction kit but it lost power so sold it on.

I've heard that to get the extra 8bhp that the newer Z18 has is only a matter of uploading the mapping off a newer one as most of the gains were software related. You could try and ask Vauxhall if they could do this. I've already got the Z18 123bhp engine and derestricted the airbox, K&N panel filter, veccy intake pipe and a duplex ASCAR cat back exhaust and got 134bhp on the Courteney RR day last weekend. So that's a further 11bhp on standard, same as Kitchpoos. More to the point the car feels much more responsive and certainly pulls harder as well. As one of the guys at Courteney said " It's no good having a power spike of an extra 20bhp cause it ain't useable, go for a nice power curve and a flat torque graph"

So I'd say all the things you've mentioned seem to work, be careful whose exhaust you choose though as I think some work better than others.

when I had my 1.8 sport, put on a cat back scorpion DTM exhaust, induction kit, re-mapped in regards to torque (only gained a few bhp with remap but more torque) and our BHP was 122
