    Taxi (the film)

Has anyone else seen the trailers for this film on the telly?

    [RANT ALERT]

This film is a US version (like the Italian Job remake, but more subtle, as Taxi was in french only) of a previous film. Did anyone else see the original (the white Pug 406 Taxi cab that turned into a touring car with a flick of few switches in the glove compartment )

I hate to say it, but I think this will be another piss poor US based remake, I know the original film was in french, but I watched it on DVD and enjoyed it loads, even my missus who doesn't like 'car' films enjoyed the film, in spite of it being subtitled into english (probably better than being dubbed TBH)

Has Hollywood run out of ideas and is just regurgitating global films as their own work now? (awaits with baited breath, the Hollywood versions of Trainspotting (now with MAK10s instead of an air rifle in the park and they steal a 42" widescreen plus crack a safe full of gold from the old peoples home), Kevin & Perry Go Large (Kev and Perry go on a mad coke and E binge for a week, shagging supermodels and his Mum & Dad star in a full-on orgy transmitted over the internet) and finally Postman Pat the movie (Pat is an undercover agent, working for the CIA in the UK in order to crack a worldwide drugs ring based in Greendale and Jess is kidnapped by the Yakuza, so Pat goes on a mission to Japan to get his moggy back and crack the ring)

    [/RANT ALERT]

I'll agree with the majority that the French originals were ace, needless to say i'm not going to watch the remake. The whole entertainment industry is pretty poor in my view, take the music industry for example, there are great bands out there but the charts are filled with drivel that is put there by people who are telling us what we should like, sadly a lot of people buy into it because it's easier than thinking for themselves.
Hardly an original rant and a bit OT but i had to get it iff my chest. I feel better now
