    Angry car wont start!

well, after making my bonnet useless the other week by getting the latch caught the wrong side of the catch, and not being able to open my bonnet, i have now jus realised why all my electrics reset themselves yesterday and why the numbers on my power cap have gone from 11.8 or something to 9.

    my car wont start.

it turns over a little bit, then dies and all the lights go out.

im left with electrics to the audio and the displays and the like, jus wont start!

    what do it do?

I CANT OPEN THE BONNET! still, was going in for service in like a week to be sorted etc!

    now im jus stuck!

    car is a '99 T-reg 1.6 8v LS

possible causes: battery, drain from ICE?, oh, and i took out my centre console yesterday to put the chrome heater rings on, could this have done anything?

guess a call to the recovery people is in order.

needs a good kicking this does!

I think it's time for you to call in the professionals !!

Beg, borrow, or steal the money to get it sorted.

how did you manage to get the latch in the wrong part of the catch is what amazes me !!

Have you tried pulling the bonnet lever and gettin a mate to push down on the bonnet at the same time to see if it will wriggle free??

Also the battery could be dud especially as the car is now 5 years old if it's a Vauxhall battery it's highly likely that it's just given up the ghost if you manage to get the bonnet open take the battery to a car accesory shop and they should be able to test it!

Dont jump to Expensive Conclusions before testing the cheaper alternatives first (i made that mistake before i started working in garages and shops)

hehe, thanks for the suggestions and advice everyone, there is a real sensible and cheap alternative to the electrical problem, jus bump start it down the hill! my dad helped and after a lot of earache, we got it done!

so now we realised that as byron said, it was jus flat! so thats the batter sorted and i firgured why too *blushes!*

bought an in car vacuum cleaner that plugs into the ciggie lighter, and was usin it without the engine on yesterday, hmm, lookin back wasnt the most sensible thing to do!

jus dont understand why all the electrical systems reset after using it tho? is it a safe mode? hmm

thanks vuaxy for the support and everyone else!

and H18OAB, i have no idea how i did it either! its an absolute bitch!

i dropped it, before takin a long trip down the m6/m1 so thankfull didnt need to get under there. now its jus stuck fast!

tried wigglin, holdin the catch fully open inside and gettin a mate. nuttin is workin!

so i guess its service on wed will have to uncover somethin wrong with it.

pray it doesnt cost anythin more!

and the reason i unclipped the console to get the heater rings on is those dodgy german illustrations told me too! bloody irmscher eh?

and it looked as if the glue would stick to the heater controls! which it didnt, but stuck everywhere else! im so messy! grr

    lol

well, drama over, until wed, ill keep u updated with the progress of the old astra! :-)

    cheers guys! (an gals)
