    Remap faults..

Lets say you have a z20let engine that has covered only 20,000 miles. You have no problems with the engine at all then you get a remap done.

Within two months you start to notice very significant oil loss (burning), turbo whining and extreme power loss.

Do you think this justifies a call on the tuner to fix these problems under some kind of warranty?

Sounds like the Turbo is ******ed to me ..... does the tuner in question offer any sort of warranty cover ??? I am also assuming that the turbo is a standard unit ??

Maybe ask them to but it back to standard map and see if the symptoms cease?

but as LN as mention - maybe damaged has already been done. :|

    loss of power
    unusally high oil use
    turbo wheezing

Sounds like the Turbo is already cream crackered to me. 20k isn't high mileage thought for the unit, but clokem had his go at some low amount too IIRC :?

    re: Remap faults..

The tuner said originally that they cover things on a warranty that have been affected directly as a result of the remap.

I'm sure the turbo has blown, which to me sounds like a direct result of too high boost levels.

IF it is the Turbo then you would be getting smoke from the exhaust system. It could be as simple as the seals have gone, which could be relatively easy.

There is smoke from the exhaust but I thought that would of been down to the burning oil?

It's booked into Vauxhall on Thursday for a check over so that I can find out exactly what is wrong but it doesn't seem good. Have used about 20l of oil in 1000 miles.

That is not good. - Only thing is VX are unlikely to be sympathic if they discover the remap. - do you have warranty left?
