    MK5 VW Golf GTi

A new challenger for the Z20LETS, the new Golf GTi from VW. Powered with a 2.0 turbocharged FSi 197 bhp engine and 0-60 about 7 secs/206lbft torque too

Car looks good too and definitely worth considering as a future motor

its certainly a contender output wise not sure on the weight though??? I would have thought it would be a lot heavier than the astra mk4 not so sure about the mk5 though??

I was very very dissappointed with the mk5 golf interior at the motorshow this year, I hope they have done something about the quailty of the plastics for the higer spec models, as the one me and Rob sat in was awfull!

I think with some decent options it comes nearer £28k for the golf as well

Mat, felt the same about the interior when I sat in the new Golf but when I sat in the pre-production GTI while in Germany they seem to have changed the interior materials. Not sure if this means it will roll out to the whole range but the GTI interior is definately a big improvement. The only thing I am not sure is whether the upgraded interior will make the production version. The tester reckoned it would though so there is hope. I also got a sneak peak at the new R32 on the test track(confirmed by the GTI tester), could not make out a lot of details as it was covered up quite well, but performance seemed impressive as he was trying quite hard to keep up to the SLK55AMG that we were in.
