    rear jacking point

    this may sound totally stupid but where is the rear jacking point for a mark 3 astra 5 door

    at a guess (as i run a mark 4!) there should be a groove cut out underneath the car like at the front (just in front of the rear wheels)

    yeah theres a lip on it. just im used to the old style of a jacking plate on the floor pan. cheers for the info anyways

    Err...and end up with a bent axle dummie. :roll:

    Jack from the jacking point on the sill, or the subframe mounting points if you've got a trolley jack and know that you're doing.

    thats why i didnt even bother replying to that last one. i may not know much but i definatly know not to jack from the axle.

    Check the strength of the sill first, i sometimes jack it up under the rear suspension.
    Have used the sill plate thing that sticks down and it was ok, sounded a little creaky at first but held up fine.
    My mk3,117K, and the engine is still going strong
    shame about the car shell tho,lol.

    thats exactly what i used. goo place to jack it up on the sill. rather do it on there than the suspension

    ANY pro garage knows its fine to jack on a rear axle (in fact Haynes manuals suggest it for a lot of vehicles)

    You are not likely to do damage via jacking your car up on the rear axle
