    engine missing after getting wet

    hi

    hit a huge puddle after all the heavy rain we had this week. now my car starts and idles ok but its missing in first and second and has a real loss of power. iv had a look over a sprayed different plugs with wd40 but its showing know signs of getting any better, its a 16 16v CD. any ideas, im at a loss.

    Check dizzy contacts, ht lead connections and the connection onto the coil.
    Probably got water on the lead contacts.
    My mk3,117K, and the engine is still going strong
    shame about the car shell tho,lol.

    dont think there are any ht leads, it an ecotech engine and has a large plastic block over the plugs.

    Check the connection/plug to that block which is on the right under the ecotec cover.

    iv now checked every plug and connection i can find and the problem remains, im at a loss for ideas now

    Have you got an engine management light? If so take it into Vxl, if not try reseating the coilpack.

    theres no engine light showing on the dash, how would i reset the coil pack.

    ok now the engine lights showing, starting to get worried now.

    You need it on the diagnostics machine to find out what the ecu is telling you.

    had a check done and it looks like the lamba sensor is shagged, getting a new one tomorrow.
