    What engine?

I have recently purchased a 1999 Astra 2.0 16V SRi, I will be needing to rebuild the engine as the timing belt went (bought as repair)

now according to Total Vauxhall (the V-Files) the engine should be a Z20xev, yet on some of the Service History its states the engine as a X20xev
can someone tell me which is correct and how I can find?

    re: What engine?

Z20xev as it's the Z20LETS little brother. All the MK4s are Z ranges iirc.

the x20xev is the old type 2.0. Found in mk3 GSi's, mk1 vectras etc..

It is an X20XEV. As far as I know, the Z20XEV never made it out of the Opel workshop.

Mine is a 1999 Mk 4 and it has a X18XE1 (Euro2) engine in is so some G's have X's but part way through the G's life the 1.8 had an engine change to a Z (Euro4 engine)

    re: What engine?

OK just to clear this up once and for all.

I have just spoken to my Local dealer and they assure me that there never was a Z20xev, all the 2.0 are X20xev's

the 1.6 & 1.8's have the Z engine but the only 2.0 with a Z engine is the turbo
