    boost fluctuation problem

    well remember the "bobbing" problem i had a while back? well it is still here and getting worse

    i was on the regals site and came accross this and was wondering if this maybe the fault

    the part relevent it highlighted


    z20let standard actuators have a weak point i.e on cars with hard usage and long service the actuators have three problems that may arise - Heat distortion on actuator spring and body - Fluctuation of boost pressure, and not holding boost on high revs. This can be resolved by a Regal Performance Actuator. Uprated actuators with adjustable spring, high precision construction with new rod, fixings and bracket. This unit has performance internals and can hold pressures of 12-20psi
    what do you think?

    i think you aught to take it in to vauxhall mate (sorry if you already have) youv'e got a dud car by the sounds of it , oh and assuming the description from regal is acurate its no good as you are running standard boost so you only spike at 11 and hold at 9, those are built for 12-20psi, i take it youve removed the DV now, is the OE one connected right?


    mate thats strange if you got a problem like this and runnin 213 bhp, not really sure what to suggest, have a check on the breather hoses, i recently found a broken one replaced it and the car runs great

    the bailey is back on for now and the OE one is tight and secure

    my mate has a boost guage lying about so i might pop it on and see how it reads

    if it has to go in for a replacement i think i will put it into daves place as at least i know he will be genuine with me

    could it be our DV mate, i know mine is vry sensitive with regards to pedal movement, if im driving like a granny it can jolt because the DV gets stuck open, anything like yours?

    the juttering happens when i am accelerating hard mark

    so its not like i am trying to keep my foot at a certain level

    although i do notice that it does dump very easily when doing this

    but it did do the juttering with the DV off of the car so i know it aint that

    does it idle ok, not misfiring or nothing? best get your mates boost guage mate but im not convinced its turbo related, il have a look see on the tis for ya see if theres anything relating to it

    sounds like a dodgy knock sensor to me!

    Vaux will just have to change everything untill its right.

    well it turns out there are two 53 plate turbos on www.astra-sri.co.uk who have had the same problem when they had them on the rollers

    theres were between 4k-6k rpm and it was showing over boost then under boost all the way up th revs

    however mine didt do it when it was on the rollers but it is getting bloody annoying now

    its going into Dave Dempseys place on wed to get looked at
