    insuring a ph3 regal

OK i'm not saying i'm doing this but the thought has crossed my mind and i was curious.

When you call the insurer and declare it what do you actually tell them ? Do you just say i had a phase 3 and the BHP it's giving out or do you have to list every little bit that has been changed ? IF you have to list every bit i can see them having a field day on hiking up the premium but not so badly just saying phase 3 as they won't have everything listed other than one major mod.

My reason for asking aswell is i can only be insured for 25 mods, any more and it invalidates the policy. I'm changing shortly if i get a better quote though as they haven't been teh best, i will not say a name as my comments aren't in the best interest of the company and may not reflect them accurately as it may have just been a few bad incidents

    cheers in advance.

Surely if you had a crash and they checked the vehicle they would notice a larger turbo among anything else though ?

A lot of insurance companies will evalute the hike in premium by the the differance in BHP over standard, if its a transplant, money spent. For something like a regal P3 you would tell them the incrase in performance the money spent, it wouldnt be hard to check. A lot will also ask for copies of invoices to evalte the premium etc. At the end of the day though the more truthfull you are the less likely they wont mess you about come payout if the worse would happen!!

The first year they may sting you but at least you can drive your car everyday and feel safe you are 100% covered. So I would tell them everything include a spec sheet and send photos. Obviously dont make the spec sheet sound like your car can do 300MPH and that its highly nickable but make sure you cover all mods.

hmm yea i was thinking that but after speaking to a few people on msn, they have told me a few things. All pretty much the same idea.

I would like to declare the ph3 but i can see a bum raping from the insurer on the cards if i listed every little bit. I do see the point and don't like not telling them but i would prefer to just say i have done a modification giving out blah blah. Rather than listing the 6 or so changes and giving them bhp for each one. I dunno mixed messages at the minute.
