Hmm thats what my dad said it was, but i didnt believe him. I believe these engines have the code C16SE, and where only found in early Gls's, Cesearo's and CDX's. Plus its a 8v. Kinda confusing. But my mate has the 1.6 single point and thats got 75bhp. So im sure the C16SE must have 100bhp!

The c16se engine has 100 bhp as standard, and that is the Mpi 8v version fitted to mk3s. This engine i think was fitted to nova gsi's and the earlier gte's had the e16se engine, or i might be making that up, but both pretty similiar.

I've got the c16se in my astra and i think its quite good, really picks up from about 3k rpm and will go all the way to 5/5.5k if your desperate. In the cesaro, they came fitted with a close ratio gearbox too, unlike the other models.

The Vauxhall Mpi 8v engines are sweet for wee bits of mad tuning, i bought my Corsa 1.4 8v SRi running at 103bhp with the RR Printout to prove it and the guys that doen the RR said it was capable of a bit more with more money thrown at it! it alreayd had Cams, Polishing done, induction kit and full Stainless Exhaust and Ecotech valve (althought the ecotech doesnot increase power)

The 75/85hp is the 1.6 8v X16SZR piece of junk they fit to the Mk4 Astra. That's what your mate has. 75hp in single point form, multipoint in 2001 for 85hp.
