    Removing Bumpstrips Mk4 Astra

    Hey,

Does anyone have any ideas how the bumpstrips are removed on the Mk4 Astra? I want to remove them so I can colour code them.

    Cheers,

    Matt

Get a short length of wood (a hammer handle is ideal), put it on the front vertical edge of the bump strip and give the other end a sharp wack with your hand - the bump strip should move back about 2cm and release from the clips, after a waggle.

Do the rears first, then the front - 2 minute job for all four

Darryl - start at the bonnet end and slowly prise, pull and wiggle the rails off. Once the section running up the screen is loose, work back to the rear of the car being careful not to bend/distort the bars or beak the clips.

If you're gonna spray them - I found it best to remove all the clips, the plastic/rubber windscreen seal and the rubber gasket thingy running along the length of the bar. Don't try to remove the roofrack mount covers, there's no need to.

BTW the rubber gasket strip is fixed at the rear, so I just removed it as far as I could and put in in a bank bag' so It didn't get sprayed - the small bit that does get painted is easy enought to clean up afterwards.

    HTH

Cheers Ffoeg, your help is very much appreciated!

I hope to get these, along with my bump strips and skirts painted soon.
