    HELP! Engine Management Light

Today I started my car up and pulled out my road, got to to about 50 and was cruising when all of a sudden the Engine Management light came on, the car was very jerky, but they weren't violent jerks, just lots of very small ones. and I lost all power (limp home mode?) I parked up and popped the bonnet, could not see any loose wires or pipes, and the engine idles fine albeit at about 1000 rpm instead of the normal 800-900 mark, but i think that was done to it not being fully warmed up.

Whats gone wrong? AFM/AMM (what ever you wanna call it), blocked/broken injector? any ideas?

The car is Mk4 2.0 16v Sri with 56k on the clock and with fresh oil and plugs.

    Cheers!

Bugger, just what I don't need! I'm already strapped for cash as it is! I had a horrible feeling that a Tech2 check was required.

How much is such a thing?

Dazoca - I know what MAF stands for but what does IAC mean? I know it probably the most obvious answer but I have only had one coffee so far this morning, I need at least one more for my brain to function fully.

I'm gonna be giving the engine a once over tonight, can anyone give me any tips on what to check other than the standard stuff? i.e. plugs, leads, loose wires etc.

    I A C = Idle Air Control

Sounds a bit like the problem Byron was having on my old Astra, anyone heard anymore from him recently?

UPDATE: As I was driving home last night, I took it above 3500rpm and the light suddenly went off and the performance instantly came back. I still get a slight jerking when cruising which leads me to believe it was/is a blocked injector? I'm gonna whip them out at the weekend and give them a good clean.
