    mk4 astra 1.6 8v

    what are the engines like?

    are they reliable and what sort of milegae is possible on them before work needs doing?

    its just ive been offered one

    mine has 80k on the clock and is a t reg astra g!

    hasnt given me any problems in the engine department, the odd warning light here or there but i know my o2 sensor is faulty! jus cant be bothered fixing it!

    i love my car, for a first car, its been great!

    The X16SZR is a fairly reliable engine. There's little to go wrong.

    Main problems are just niggly things like water pumps and oil leaks. Sometimes the cam bearings give issues at about 100k. The EGR is a piece of shit too, shim it and problem solved. The monopoint injection version (pre summer 2000) is a bit lifeless, the newer multipoint injection version is much better and has 10hp more than the older 75hp version.

    & they don't like hills very much, mine struggles on the M20 going london bound towards west Kingdown.
