My Working Day Nightmare and the War of the Words!!

Yesterday was one of the worst days of my life so far...

Running late for work - got stuck behind every large articulated lorry going - at 5am in the morning

Got into work - and found that somewhere I had sat on someone else's chewed Hubba Bubba - pink on a navy uniform

Got onto the aircraft - thought the day could only get better - and was DELAYED

Got back to the airport after a seemless flight - once it had taken off. Things starting to look good

    and then.....

Got to the Staff carpark where I could hear a car alarm going off

    It was mine

Tried an hour and a half to try and get into the car - everytime I managed to open the door the horn kept going off ops: ops:

Managed to disable my alarm and then the battery was flat

This is the worst bit Had to get a jump start off a FORD FOCUS    ops: ops: ops: ops:

Oh and it was peeing down with rain!

Does anyone have any ideas as to why the car's alarm would have gone off in the first place as I need to look into this

By the way the car is perfectly OK now!

    about your day
but Glad to hear the beast is ok now.
If it keeps doing it I understand tech2 will tell the dealer which sensor(s) keep setting it off.

    Hope things improve

    Cheers Si

Yeah have been asked to take it into the dealers to have a test done on the battery aswell as the tech2 test! They've even offered to put her on the forecourt for £9995

Most embarrassing bit was the Ford bit but thankfully no paparrazi around at the time of the operation! so should be OK! phew :P

You didnt leave the lights on did you shev? If you were in a rush its a posibility. That would have flattened the battery and as the voltage droped it would have triggered the alarm as it looks for a voltage drop to detect tampering. The alarm itself has a backup battery which would explain why it was still going off long after the main battery was dead.

    Just a thought? :?

ops: ops: ops: I know for definate the exterior lights were switched off but I did at some point in my journey put the interior light on to check my lipstick!! I may have left that on ops: ops: But would that be enouigh to drain the battery - the car was left for about 10 hours. ops: ops:

yes the interior light can draw enough from the battery to prevent starting. Once the battery voltage falls below 10.5 V the ecu won't even power up.

Good job FORD's FOCUS will automatically turn off exterior and interior lights after 1 hour to prevent such a folly for it's owner. And in the event of a partially discharged battery, it's smart charge and run system will limit electrical consumers and get the battery back to spec in the shortest possible time.

Your outlook on life is all wrong Shev, you should be glad that the most reliable car in europe was there for you, otherwise you might still be there!

    Yeah but they're still sheds

I suppose it was the luck of the draw - the Focus belonged to our engineers and the car that they sent around to help my beast out could so easily have been another VX Astra or a jumpstart from a Boeing 767!! :P :P

At least I got to see how impressive the 888's security system is
