I would try getting the fronnt fo the car on axle stands, then get underneath and see if you pull the catch, once the bonnet is open you can fix it. a torch might be handy!

Right chap, this is a lovely job youve got yourself!

Firstly, as said above, jack the car up in the air so you can lie underneath it, get it on an axle stand and remove the front bumper.

Then what your gonna have to do is get a couple of nice screwdrivers and break the safety cover off.
Its a bit of a pain to destroy as you cant get a decent angle to get under it but if you persivere, it will come off.

Once thats out the wayyou need to push the hooked end of the spring clip up and out the way, this is also a sod to do as you have nothing to lever on to but it can be done still. When thats popped off, push the other part of the spring off and the bonnet will pop.

If your cable isnt broke when you get the safety cover off, just try and lever the spring back, 9 times out of ten though, its quicker and easier to just remove it all together.

    Hope that helps.

Matey sounds like he has done it before.

I'd just take it to vauxhall, they must have an easier solution, even at an hours labour its better than never being able to check you oil
