6x9's .... serious system...... why do they do it ??????

This question has bothered me quite a bit. :?

Serious, or at least decent ICE systems do NOT have 6x9s in them....fact.
Proof, ask any serious car audio forum about it.

So why, oh why, oh why......... do we keep seeing Max Plower, Fast car feature cars with subs and 6x9s sharing the same boot space???

    Rant over

Yeah everyone says 6x9s are crap, especially with subs, and they always say use coaxials or components. feature cars probably have them because are big and heavy looking and look powerful, if you know what i mean.
My mk3,117K, and the engine is still going strong
shame about the car shell tho, lol.

The ONLY reason I can possibly think of is 'back fill'.

We're lucky with astra's as we can fade to the rear speakers to provide the fill.
    Even standards will do.

There's still the FACT that having a sub or two in a boot can screw up any speakers in the back shelf.

......... so anyone thinking of a system, do it right first time.....no 6x9s

Cooooo...i have 3 subs and 3 amps in the process of going in my boot. I also have 6x9's to put in a stealth shelf but funnily enough we were talking about whether the 6x9's were gonna work out or not.

I will try it all and if it's not producing what i want i will sell the 6x9's on schmee-bay or summat.

m8 of mine had a fully done up saxo, 6x 12" subs in rear of car, he put his 6x9's in the front doors (vibe install)

personally if I got 6x9's they'd go in rear quarters to replace rear speakers but defo not in boot, thats for BASS

When I had me clio I had infintiy 6x9's in the rear shelf to give a bit of depth to the tunes when the boot was open at shows, the subs are pretty much useless at any decent volume when the boots open.

at last someone has pointed out the uselessness (if thats a word) of 6 x 9 s. They have NO place in an ICE install, unless youre some dirty Nova owning chav

So... what were saying is, that 6x9's are to the ICE world, what Powerflow is to the exhaust world? A cheep, second best solution typical of your local chav with a halfords account.

Personally I'd never fit speakers in the rear shelf of any hatchback regardless of weather there oval or spherical. I cringe at the thought, not only is it a second best option to a proper install using the door panels, its bloody dangerous.

now now i used to own a nova  which had a wicked sound system but since ive owned my astra ive gone even better.

i get what your saying coo why bother having them if you already have subs surely a decent set of components would do the trick perfectly, i would personally only recomend 6x9s if you dont have subs but i imagine most who have both is purely for show anyway
