I wouldn't have thought there would be much in it.

when i had a a 1.8 16v vectra i had a wee race with an 1.6 SXi astra 5 door. The astra was a bit quicker up to 60-70, then i just glided passed him. If i wasnt on the motorway it would have been a good race

1.6 16v Astra would surely take the veccy round the streets and country roads but on the motorway the veccy has to win hands down!

spot on. my last car was an astra g 1.6 16v and its nippy about town and handles better but the vectra 1.8 i have now is quicker in a straight line (not by much)

vectra without a doubt not by heaps but i know for a fact it would have the edge on the standard 16 16v, judging by the comparisons between my standard 18 16v G. and my mates old 18 veccy.

must admitt that i never had a standing start race with him so cant comment on his starting performance, though that makes no great difference either way as 9/10 race situations will come about on the move when some ***** behind starts tailgating or you see an old friend in front driving a 1.8 veccy!
    Cheers Rich.
