Tinted my rear lights and side repeaters(pics!!!!)

Got a bit board today so got some black spray paint out and sprayed away.
What do you think of the results, i am quite pleased with them, i don't know if the police will be though
    Rear lights-

They still let light through though, and the reflector does still work(will have to check tonight with a torch,LOL)

Also sprayed the side round repeaters as they look crap orange, and i can't replace them with some oval ones as the wings are different. I think its made them look a lot better:-

What do you think, not bad for a can of matt black spray paint and £2 can of laquer.
My mk3,117K, and the engine is still going strong
shame about the car shell tho, lol.

They do look slightly lighter in real light but the camera took the pic in a shadow.
I can always pick up some second hand clusters anyway.
It don't look like the car is going anywhere anyway, with todays insurance quote of £1800 for my spi 1.4. Third party alone, not even fire and theft.

The reflector does show slightly, when its dark it should still be quite bright.
I could always stick a red reflector somewhere on my boot though. I have also debadged the boot, took the vauxhall and astra badges off, planning to get a chrome astra badge(the ones on the astra H) and stick that in the middle of the boot.

Look nice againt the white, but may be a bit too dark - the torch test will be a good judge tho.

I'd give them a few coats of clear laquer to loose that matt black look as well.

That insurance quote is 're-****-ulous' - shop around mate there's gotta be cheaper than that out there

One thing to bear in mind with the reflectors is that they get affected by the tint spray more than the lights do.. as light only leaves the bulb, goin thru the spray once. Whereas the light hitting the reflector passes thru the spray once on the way in, and again on the way out!

Does look good tho! I reckon u will hav to swap in a std set come MOT time tho

I did something similar to mine last weekend:

U can see that I was able to mask off the reflective strip. I did 5 coats of tint spray on the main part of the light, and zero on the reflector. I reckon it looks pretty good with the red stripe across the bottom - Im fairly lucky that the mk4 has a simple design like that.

Im glad to see that ur's light up ok tho! At the end of the day, u only need to hav ur lights on at night time, and at night they should still show up pretty bright! (That's my excuse anyway) What paint did u use and how many coats u got on there mate??
