    Caliper & Drum paint

I'm wanting to paint my calipers and drums but dont know what colour I should do them. My Astra is Star Silver so I was thinking a light colour maybe a dark one. What have you guys & gals done to yours, if you've done them?

Where's a good place to get some decent quality paint from? website preferably unless Halfords or Motorworld sell sum good stuff.

    re: Caliper & Drum paint

    Hello!

I have a star silver SRI and i painted my calipers silver, all matching!

I used a box set with everything in from Halfords, didnt cost too much.
I know its obvious but dont paint over your (i cant remember the correct word) nut thing, otherwise you wont be able to get your caliper loose to change your brake pads.

    good luck!

    silver or black.

Paintwise, I've always had good results using smooth hammerite. The key to success as always is preparation. Remove all dust and loose rust, using a dremel (wire brush bit) for the front cailiers and normal wire brush for the rears. Thoroughly degrease before painting and then do 3 coats of hammerite, making sure you follow the instruction with regard to drying times.

Cool, thanks for your advice peeps.

I was thinking the colour-coding thing too just wanted to see if anyone has done it and what they thought. So off to Halfords I go. Car modding is sweet. Even the little bits!

Ive colour code'd mine silver using the folitek kit from halfords. It's only about £20 and you get a can of break cleaner thrown in which is V handy.

Best way to do it is to put the car on axle stands and remove all the wheels, Go round with a wire brush and give all the calipers a good scrub. Then whip the break pads out before you start painting. It looks far more profeshonal. Now you can work your way round the car painting the calipers, and by the time your back to the first wheel, your ready for a second coat! Idealy leave the car on stands for the night and rebuild the calipers the next day when all the paints hard. It says not to use the car for 24 hours anyway so you might as well do it properly.

Cheers Coupe, thats really helpful. I think Silver it is then. Thats a reasonable price too, I was expecting to pay a bit more than that like. Might just do that this weekend.
    Thanks again.
