Interesting turbo perf specs for MK4 and Mk5

    All,

I find the new Astra MK5 200PS turbo performance figures interesting compared to the MK4 Note that the Mk5 is slightly heavier than a convertible and has a slightly slower 0-60 time. But the 30-50 is faster than any Mk4 indicating a very different gear ratio.

    Astra 5dr Mk5 (200PS verison)
    Gross Weight: 1860
    0-60: 7.7
    30-50 (4th gear): 5.0

    Astra Coupe Mk4
    Gross weight: 1640
    0-60: 7.0
    30-50 (4th gear): 6.0

    Astra Cabriolet Mk4
    Gross weight: 1835
    0-60: 7.5
    30-50 (4th gear): 6.5

I think I have answered my own note about the difference. The Mk5 has a 6 speed gearbox on the turbo!

Aren't the new MkV turbos going to be running the 6 speed gearbox.
    That would explain the ratios.

    Cheers Max! )

I would have thought though, that as it obviously has closer gear ratios, the 0-60 time would be faster? I am surprised its that slow.

It's quite a bit heavier than the MkIV though isn't it? That's probably what slows it down.

Its only a tiny bit heavier than the convertible. If the convertible does 0-60 in 7.5 with a 5 speed, the MK5 should not be slower with a 6 speed!

    True.

Makes you wonder what the MkIV would be like with the 6 speed box!

you can hit 60 in 2nd in a mk4 but with a 6 speed i dought if you can so you'll have to make the extra shift, hence it would be slower
