Help! - warning lights on dash!

Went to the post office earlier to pick up my new iridium plugs and when on the dual carriageway the car stutterd for a split second and the warning light for the traction control came on and stayed on. The little car light with the spanner also came on at the same time.

Checked out the traction control and it is not working (wheel spin), and now the little car has gone and the engine management light is on. Stopped at vaux on the way back and they said it'd be £58.75 + VAT just for a diagnostic!?! what? you've got to be kidding me! it only takes 5 mins to plug in the fault finder!

So, suprising the guy I declined!, any ideas? it it the traction sensor? is there only one? how much for a new one? can I get one off a 1.8 or 2.2? is it easy to fit? please help !! - any other suggestions?

could be traction sensor. or poss abs/wheel sensor. but wouldn't really know without testing.
thats dear for testing. we only charge £31+vat for diag on faults like that.

I'm not far from Sutton in Ash - question is, will this tell me exactly what the problem is? i.e. which sensor I need to replace exactly?

Could I bring this up to you on Sat am?

it should tell you what the problem is. if eng man light on should have stored a trouble code in ecu. if not then won't be easy to find.

i work in nottingham sat morning should be ok.
life's to fast to go slow. so get the turbo.

Well here's what I've learnt tonight guys - swapped the AMM from the DTI to the Turbo (same part code on body) traction light goes out on the Turbo, but managment light stays on - goes like stink with the new iridum plugs by the way!

Sus AMM in DTI - mangment light comes on straight away! definately a fault - swapped back and the DTI is back to normal, Turbo traction light comes on again.

Question is, how to clear the fault code on the Turbo, do I have to pay for this or will just disconnecting the battery do the trick? will this cause me any other probs?

    Any help astragsiturbo?

only way you can clear tc in by tech 2. no other way. light will probably go off. but poss will still keep popping on and your not going to know if its for a different fault.
