    Someone stole my antenna

Hi Everyone, got a nice surprise today when I got back to my car from shopping, some bugger had nicked my antenna from my Astra SXI, it was the standard one but does anyone know if this is special to the SXI/SRI of are all the astra/corsa/vectra ones the same?

If I can remember it was of the glossy type with a woven wire type length, another question is any ideas how much these cost from the dealer so I know what to expect.

    Cheers

They're standard across the range, and shouldn't be too much. (£10 ?)

There's a couple on ebay now going for less than a fiver, or your local scrappies should be able to sort you out with one.

Either that or you can get after market ones, maybe one off Ryan on here.

Reception on most after market ones isn't as good tho

The people who nick some things are stupid. Last week someone nicked my valve caps and they weren't special at all. They were the standard black plastic caps. A while back, someone also nicked the aerial off my Corsa. I went to a Vauxhall garage and one of the parts people took the aerial off one of the cars on the forecourt and just gave me it for free

I have seen some locking aerials but not sure how good they are.

Someone ripped the aerial out of my GF Corsa once.

It was an after market one. Instead of unscrewing it they pulled it up. breaking the mounting point and ripping out the wire.
They then bent the aerial and threw it on the floor behind the car.

Vauxhall wanted over £90 to fix it, she got it done near where she works for £30.

    re: Someone stole my antenna

Get one from a scrappy... the aftermarket ones i find are not good when listening to radio... (they loose the stations very quick) i have one fitted to mine and i'm putting back on the standard one.

The other thing to do, is glue the buggers on

cheers guys, managed to get one from the local scrappy for a few quid

dont think I'll glue it on tho, because if it happens again they might rip it off and do more damage, I'll get another spare one and keep it in the car just incase it happens again.

What are those shark fin type aerials I've seen on BMW cars. Are they for radio or GPS or both? If they are for Radio then some after market aerial like that would be quite cool.
