    New clutch??

    Hello,
just took my MK3 to a garage to get a new clutch fitted, the car only just made it. On the entrance to the garage there is a small incline(upwards ramp)(only about 3inches high) onto the car park, with the car in first gear i couldn't get up the ramp, nearly full revs and the clutch almost all the way out. I ended up asking the garage owners to give me a push,LOL.In first my maximum speed is about 8mph, foot to the floor.
I know my astra is only a 1.4spi but a 1.2 nova i have driven is less bhp and can easily touch 30mph in first gear. So 8mph in first is about the speed of a milk float , deffo not right.
Lets hope this is new clutch sorts it out, £130 including fitting.
My only question will the pressure needed to press the clutch down be more harder because at the moment it is dead easy to press. And will the biting point on the clutch change, i was thinking the bite would be further towards the floor so you don't have to let the clutch out as much.
My mk3,117K, and the engine is still going strong
shame about the car shell tho, lol.

Just got back from MOT garage, my car passed, just. The MOT bloke gave me a note with some faults on that were only minor and not bad enough to fail. Sticking hazard switch(once on doesn't go off, you have to wedge it in), N/S/F arch scaly(whatever that is), N/S sill weak at the front, O/S/F chassis scaly.
But it passed and the clutch was fitted, and now the car is a lot better, it still isn't fast(it is only a 1.4spi so can't expect much more) but it will easily reach 40mph in 2nd and 65mph in 3rd, which i thought was pretty good.
So i can now continue the project as the car is at least road worthy.

    Glad it passed mate.

Hazard switch is easily sortable via your local scrappy.
'Scaley' probably refers to rot starting to set in, - best get it looked at before the 'tin worm' starts to eat chunks out of the car.

More expense to sort out I know, but better late than never

Yeah planning on getting all the "going" bits patched up, at least it passed though.
