    Who for 3.0 V6 Conversion

    Hi everyone,

Im brand new to this site but i use many other forums so some of you may know me from them.

Ok question for you, ive just brought a mk3 astra GSI i want to do a 3.0 V6 conversion, now as i am not mechanically minded at all and there is no-way i trust my mates to have a go i'll need someone to do it for me.
Does anyone on here fancy doing it for me in there garage or something or is it best off left to regal/courtney or another company like that.

    Thanks

    Kevin

Welcome to the site. All the conversions I have seen done, which isn't many I must admit, have been done professionally.

The only person on here that could do it, is probably NRJ ! :|

hiya mate, welcome to the site..

With regards to the engine transplant, there is a lot of mechanics etc on here, but personally l would go for courtneys or regals as it's quite a big job, and at least you get warrenty and all with them. (and it's probably quicker mate)
    Cheers

Speak to SimonP on MIG as he has a mk3 with a 2.5 V6. I would amagine this would be a svery similar setup!

re: Who for 3.0 V6 Conversion

Its not that hard to do really... if you put your mind to it, but speak to Simon P or AstraSport (Lee) on Mig,

The only prob maybe i could see is wiring the engine loom to the existing under the dash... to the ECU... i'm was thinking of doing this later in the year, but all plans are now scrapped as i'll be selling the car.

I'd help... but being 15 weeks pregnant i wouldn't be allowed ... any excuse to get the Snap-On spanners all warmed up again, they havn't used really since doing my engine in january

Your best bet is to use a 2.5 as the 3ltr engines are mounted for rwd and the inlets etc will all be different..

using a 2.5 is quite straight forward.

use an f20 gearbox (which you already have) that way you can keep your origonal drive shafts etc..

your radiator will be fine so you can leave that there.. all you need to do is unplug the engine harness and remove your engine.

The 2.5 engine will use the same mounts so that will drop back in place, then you should be able to just plug the v6 engine harness into the cars loom replace the ecu and job done.

The only thing you will have to do it get an exhaust made up to fit the v6 manifold.

im sure it can be done... but then you need to change gearbox, hubs, struts, driveshafts, clocks, brakes, gearlinkage, wiring loom would be a night mare, ecu and keys are coded etc etc not worth it IMO.

2.5 v6 is a very easy and cheap conversion. and witha lightned flywheel and an f20 box it would go like feck.
