Me and Rob have been to Max Power Live today and have come away very disheartened by the whole modified car scene. The show was a lot bigger this year taking up 3 halls and an outside area (which had possible the worst cars on show I have EVER seen!!)
Now I know that Car mags promote women and I dont mind it to a certain degree.....but that show is a disgrace, a lot of people there were there for women and the constant picture taking of them and not the cars was a real shame. We couldnt get close to a lot of the cars due to idiots taking pictures of some half naked dogs!
We both felt very old and embarresed to be apart of it all, in terms of just owning a modified car, its the magazines like Max Power, Fast Car and Revs that are making a mockery of the scene not the owners of the cars that put sooo much time and effort into there cars. Loads of nice cars, but even they have been done SO OTT to try and stand out and certain ideas were simply terrible!
I think it would be nice if the modified car scene to have a proper divide now as I dont want to be associated to that in any way. You can see why 90% of the VW people stay well clear of the mags, other than there own like in a way but I sence they could lose the plot as well and head in that direction....see this months issue, the cover car is a joke (and it used to be stunning a couple of years ago).
Anyhow to round it off, I certainly wont show my car at that show and I most likely will never go again unless the tickets are free (this is the first time I have paid to go to this event...£30!!)
All in all bit annoyed buy it all
