    Lack of reverse lights

My reverse lights have stopped working and I reckon it's something to do with the switch on the gear stick because I have a multi-lock and I think it's just sort of knackered it.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what else it could be or any tips on getting the gaitor off so I can mess around and check the switch out.

    Cheers.

The reverse light switch is usually on the gearbox

    Yeah in the engine bay

On my 1.6 caviler with the bonnet open and looking with the engine on your left and gearbox on your right it was at the front of the gearbox

Most likely thing thats gone wrong, it will have 2 wires going to it.

Ah and this is assuming you have already checked the fuses

To check the switch just pull the plug off and bridge the wires together, if the lights come on its the switch.

happened a couple of times on the mk2, my mk4 seems a little sticky now and again (slight delay in the light coming on) if you still have trouble finding the switch mate i can meet up and point it out.
    Cheers Rich.
