    Is this important? Engine change

My friends are doing an engine change on an Astra G V reg. They are using an engine from another car, not from an Astra and some things are different. On the broken Astra G engine there is a plug coming from the block, the new engine to go into the Astra does not have this. Will it make any difference? It looks like a crank sensor and if it is, then the other engine will probably not work. So who knows what it does? This is a diesel engine that they are changing. The one that's going back into the G is an older lump but with good miles on it. Thanks

Thanks Techie mate, looks like my pals are going to need to find a new engine for the job, as the old one won't work then, as it does not have the crank sensor. Cheers. Mark

Crank sensor runs off a wheel on the crank, much less likely to get damaged there.
