    Help with door speakers

    Hi, everyone

I'm looking for replacement speakers in my side doors on my 2003 astra sxi

The reason for this, is one I have buggered the left side up with playing music too loud, and two they sound naff.

What I would like to ask is are they easy to replace with say some alpines or something?

I've only had the car a month and according to my mate, he says I need some kind of adaptor?

As anyone changed the door speakers and could they suggest some nice brands to go into them?

    Cheers

    Peter

door speaker adaptors are £12 from Halfords. They take 16.5cm drivers. Make sure the magnets aren't too big as the window won't open (or close!!)

I know Focal Polykev 165s will fit, as will Helix HXS636s. They have 65mm depth so go for something with that depth or less.

cheers, guys, is there any easy way to get to the speaker? is it just a simple case of prising the grille off? or should I buy a haynes manual to help.

    Thanks

just to clear something up, if i was to use an adaptor plate to fit new speakers, am I right in saying that I would be able to fit the original speaker grille back onto my door trim?

thats right, itl be hidden behind grill. youll be able to see the tweeters you've installed by the door mirror tho as they arent hidden.

heres a pic of speakers fitted in front door.

and about fitting the speaker, you cant simply do it by removing the grill. you have to remove the door card first. this can take a while but well worth it
