    Headunit - Sony or JVC

Right peeps, need to hear your guys thoughts.

I'm after swapping my Headunit, for a mp3 compatible one.
Now i've always had SONY head units find them easy to use and good value for the money.

I've been looking, and i've been pointed to a JVC KD-LHX501.

    JVC info
I like this unit but never had any dealings with JVC headunits.
Can anyone tell me what they're like and what sort of build quality they are?
I also like, the Sony CDX-MP80. i also like this but as has been pointed out to me the "knobs" stick out a bit.

    SONY info

I've also then got to concider the Sony Mini disc changer i've got. If i get a JVC headunit the Mini-disc will be useless to me and will be up for sale with the old Headunit. Then again it wouldn't matter that much as the JVC plays mp3's.

They're about the same money. I don't want to dive in and completely change my sound set-up without knowing what JVC's are like.
Come on guys help me out!

JVC too, have a reputation of producing some top quality gear recently, and look the nuts.

Sony dont have such a good reputation anymore. But in the end there prob aint much in it, so choose the one you prefer.
    mmmmmmmm, nice try!

    JVC over Sony.

Although I have not had any experience with the JVC units, I have with the Sony ones, and although ok, the quality wasnt as good as I expected.
Mates have had JVC units and all have performed well, been packed with features and to be honest, are known to perform better than the sony. :|

My GF's, sister blokes just bought one of those. I love that head-unit but it's way out my price range.

I've always had JVC home stereos. Bought my first one cause i was impressed with the sound for the price.
My worry with this head-unit is it's full of trick gadgets. (touch screen etc.) Don't want want hastle with it.
The Sony Head-unit i've got is a replacement as the original one i had must have been built late on a Friday, cause it didn't work!

wouldnt ever touch sony for in car. They seem to have gone from good quality to good looks and poor quality.

If you want it to look good then fair play but if you want it to sound good steer clear.

    Just my £12 worth..
