    Motivation for exercise....

DO you exercise? If so how do you find the moivation??

My liking to burgers, beer, fried breakfasts and choclate is begining to show finally Due to my job I have always been able to get away with eating what I like when I like but I think my days maybe numbered!!

So as I like my food and drink to much, instead of giving them up I will combat it with exercise. The only problem I am having is the motivation to do it. I used to run for the county cross country and was very fit, also played loads of tennis and ride my bike.

These days I go mountain biking now and again but thats about it, apart from walking toffee.

I am now struggling to find the motivaton to start getting fit again.....and I have tried a lot of times.....so what works for you?

What started off my excercise was a friend doing his knee in for the 2nd time so he took up swimming to built up the strenght again.

I had wanted to do something myself as I was fast approachimg 30

TBH if I was going alone every week I wouldn't do it but because I know I won't be alone I make the effort (most weeks)

So there you go Mat get Rob to join you in whatever you decide to do

Having the words "Fat B'stard" on the underside of the sunvisor in the car !

Having a lifesize cardboard cut out of myself on the kitchen door !

Try and only buy jeans that have a waist size lower than your age !

Buy the 'vauxhall' mountain bike so you have areason to "Go Ride"

Don't exercise, just eat a fruit instead of a fudge (oohh errr !!)

    a good mp3 player helps

i know what you mean Mat its hard to keep motivated, but i think i f you can do it for a couple of weeks and get it into your schedule sort of thing it comes part of your routine.

gettin a trainin partner or even something like gettin to your local running club would also help to, means if you aint up for it you can get your mate to drag you out.

    @ John

Rob goes to the gym but its the other side of brum which is about 30mins from my house to his, none of my other mates do. I am not keen on the gym idea anyhow to be honest...not sure why just dont think its for me.

I want to start running again as I enjoy it, its just getting of my fat arse and doing it is the problem......

its crackin i think - its something you either love or hate

i try and get out 3/4 times a week - but i've just recently started it back up.

my latest toy is a heart rate monitor which is helping me loads atm.

i've found if i spend a bit of money of some new kit im reluctant to let it just sit in the drawer!

that could be a plan that New toys usually keeps me happ y for a while. The problem with me is I dont do things by halfs usually so if I join a running club again I will get really into it and I havent got time for that now. When I was running before I was running every morning and every night and racing on Sundays...it just got too much so I knocked it on the head and started drinking instead
