    Major probs with DVD

    Hello!

Im hoping someone can help us out!!! I bought a DVD and screen second hand a few weeks ago and eventually had time yesterday to fit it. Myself, my boyf and his best mate tried to get it working but ended up with major probs (my boyf and his mate between them have put in three custom boot builds, wired up neons and various other elctrical bits and bobs- so altho i have no knowledge at all, they know there stuff!)

All started well, we moved the headunit down and plugged it all back in, then got the dvd unit secure in the glovebox- the instructions advised to wire the screen up to the cigrette lighter so after doing that and blowing three fuses, it was obviously it wasnt going to work. So we wired it up to the battery switched it on and smoke filled my car. (not hp) turned it off let it cool down pulled the screen out of the dash to find one of the wires (yellow end) completely burnt through there was barely a wire left.

My boyf's dad took a look (more knowledge then all of us three put together) and said it could be a prob with the actual screen unit.

any help or advice would be much apprieated,

    many thanks

    nat

Hi Nat, sorry to hear about all those problems, electrics and smoke = :x

Anway, you could try www.theiceshop.co.uk as they are advertising a 7" JVJ (Not JVC) screen for £199.00 in the latest adition of Revs. Part No. is TM7000.

Not had a look myself as yet so I have no idea of specs or quality, worth a look though as I think it`s a widescreen.

Hope that`s of some help to you.

    re: Major probs with DVD

Think we have got this sorted! My boyf dad's mate (that sounds more complex then it is!) works in the electric's industry and knows his stuff, so we took it to him. The second he took the top off the unit he could tell what the problem was....... the person i bought it from, when removing it from his car had pull the earth wire out of the unit......... and altho he soldered it back together he didnt do it properly, so when the power when through the wire into the unit it had nowhere to go but back out down the wire, frazzling it!

Boyf dad's mate has it at present and said he can sort it,should be back within the week!

    thanks for all your help!

That would certainly explain things burning up like that.
With a bit of luck your screen will be in & working soon.

    re: Major probs with DVD

Thanks for all your help! my headunit now needs repairing as well, something to do with when it was all plugged in, the dodgy screen blew the audio out on the headunit
Getting that repaired and giving it to my boyf, i bought a new headunit yesterday really good, really impressed but this dvd business has cost me a lot more than i was expecting, and as im saving to get my new house its stuff i could do without

    thanks again
