    First install problem.

    Morning
Iv finaly got it all in the boot (not finished off but running), Iv wired up the speaker / amp and power cap. My cap reads 12.8 V (flucturates when in use obviousely)

So everything should be rosey ?? but i cant hear anything from the speaker .... it moves the air but there isnt really any sound, iv set it to low frequancies below 70 hz and its set to mono (bridged) across left + and right -. RCA `s from the head unit to amp input and remote power from head unit to amp P.con. Im using the 10" kenwood KFCW2509 and KAC7201 amp.

Iv been told to change the GAIN which i guess is the input sensativity but i think id set that correlty already before i put it in, the amp and power cap share the same earth point,

As this is my first setup I thought id get some advice before i go playing with things have a made a fundermantal error somewhere or just a case of not setting the amp correctly?

I don't understand if the subs moving it you should hear it.

See page 4 of your manual to see rough settings for the gain (Input Sensitivity)
If your HU is 4x40W, set the input sensitivity to 0.5
If your HU is 4x20W, set the input sensitivity to 0.4

You should also check your head unit settings.
What HU have you got ?

I think its the KDCM4524G (i think will need to check faceplate)

The sub is moving fine but i can put my ear right upto it and there isnt any sound, I have taken all the bass off the other speakers from the headunit (from advice of a mate) and there is stilll no noise,

I will try turning up the input sensativity later once i get home, im sure the unit is 4 x 50 and is currently on 0.5 but will try turnign it up and let you know, i was just unsure what gain was and dont fancy popping my sub yet :-)

by moving, do you mean it is vibrating, or that it moves on one direction and stays there.

It goes with the music just there is no sound, the cone is bouncing when there is lots of base and theres a little movement when there isnt much base, its vibrating in rythum just no sound, im going to play with the input sensativity once i get near some screw drivers ill let you all know how successfull it is.

somethings not quite adding up here

as to generate sound the sub moves so if it is moving it should be making sound!

can you feel the effects of the bass through the car when it is moving!
if so the increase the cut off frequency of the LPF to around 100Hz that way it will reproduce more of the sound that is being sent to the amp!!

    Good morning all,

Well everyone was right, increased sensativity made some differance, increasing the lpf made a very big differance then fiddled with the sensativity some more now its nice tight bass,

. . . and remember it will get louder once its been run-in

So don't crank it up totally. You will hear a difference once it's run in .
