    What car next? Around 4.5k

Hi, i currently own a mk4 astra 1.8 16v sport (s-reg) But am thinking of changing it soon,

Ive had enough of modified cars (although my sport only has few wee modds)
I want something that looks good to start with, (no higher than about insurance grp 10)
And i dont really want to spend more than 4.5k

    What you think?

was thinking of a pug 306 td/ hdi, but the complicated engine puts me off a wee bit (the engine bay is hoses and wires everywhere!! And if any thing goes wrong id imagine it would be a nightmare)

Also thinking of getting another corsa b, but i dunno......

Any suggestions? cos i really cant decide

Dont mind the ibiza, but there arent many good ones about for under 5k

also thinking of a 106 quicksilver, but apparently they are very slow?? What are they, about 80bhp?

75bhp - fairly nippy about town.

going from an astra G to a 106 is a big step back imo.

what about something jap? civic etc

I was forced to drive a 306HDi as a company car a few years ago and all I can say is 'complete bag of ar5e' - nice chassis, but all the rest is awful.

mmmm, decisions! I really dont know! Just want something that looks nice, and some hastle free motoring, Fed up of constantly working on cars.

Did think about a civic, but my mate has just bought one, so dont really wanna have the same as him.

My mum has a 306 1.9 td and i quite like it, just thought the hdi would be bit nicer (better spec, more torque etc)

The 306 was just full of little niggles - too many foe me to mention here, but it all added up to a most unenjoyable time, especially as I was doing over 1000 miles a week.

The only good bit was that it made my astra seem soooooo great to drive at the weekends

I know this is a bit of an odd-ball option/ A W plate 1.9 JTD Fiat Punto Sporting?

My 1.9 JTD was 80bhp, huge torque curve and I did eek 70mpg out of it once!! - the prices are tumbling on them tho, but it means its affordableto you.

Honest - for a fiat it didnt fall apart and was well specced. Cant be too bad as Vauxhall have stolen the engine technology.

my experiences of the 306 are all bad - the only car i've known to need 3 gearboxes by 75k, the most uncomfortable seats and poor dash layout.

Take a fiat for a test drive - try it - you might like it.
