    Private Plates

I've never bought a private plate before but today I went through the process.

Just bought T3 LYO. Which i'd like to read TEL YO (T3L YO).

Paid £250 inc fee from dvla. Did I get a good deal? It's a lot of money just for a plate but I thought I could always reuse it on new cars and it's something for life.

If you want to misspace the letters then you need to use either

    www.fancyplates.com

    or

    www.gtgrafix.com

High street places won't do 'altered' plates anymore

very good price, direct from the DVLA is the best place to go as the £80 transfer fee is included in the price.

i got my plate for my 21st they are a good "mod" as they can be carried on other cars.

but i wouldnt space it wrong tho - i got hit with a £60 fine for that.

You got a good deal mate, I bought mine first off of newreg.com for £550, then my mate rang and told me that he saw the same plate on the DVLA website for £250

emailed new reg with a sob story that I had just been made redundent blah blah blah, and they cancelled the order, then bought it off of the DVLA

Yeah always best to check around I guess!

S7EN - £60 fine? Was this an endorsable penalty ticket or what?

Bearing in mind i'm "in the job", using the correct font and altering one space does not normally attract unwanted attention (from my perspective and people I work with). It's the incorrect fonts and screws in places that tend to do so.

    What was yours like?

It is - It will depend - where you live and the police's attitute, how late at night you drive about , and how much twatting around you do.

Both our cars have illegal plates and have not been stopped yet.

My dad has though - 60 quid fine, stopped him late one night.
why do today what you can...... I'll finish this later

    not really

my tip is to have a legal one on the back and 'dodgy' one on the front, your not really going to get pulled over as easily. worked for me anyway.

planB is to have a legal set of plates in the boot and your "show plates" stuck on with velcro. " im on my way back from a show officer "

might work in some cases. always a risk tho
