    Now that's funny that is

I read on an earlier thread that the Astra turbo would murder a CTR. Dream on chaps, I've driven both, seen the figures for both and no which one my money would be on. The Astra is an ordinary car with minor tweaks and a blower attached whereas the CTR is built for the job from running gear to engine. Like I said, dream on.

Even if it were close, the Astra needs a blower to even compete. Normally aspirated 2.0 Litre V-tec (100 BHP per tonne). Nastra, hmmmm turbo'd and less output

    Max speed - 144 MPH, 0-100 MPH 18.3, 0-60 7.2 - Astra Turbo
    Max speed - 146 MPH, 0-100 MPH 16.2, 0-60 6.7 seconds - CTR

    Hmmmmm again

This is all a load of bollocks. Stated top speed are varying depending on who you ask. The Astra is officially top speed of 149mph, but Autocar tested figures for the SRi Turbo said 152mph?

I'm not going to get into the ins and outs of this again. Suffice to say they are about the same performance and NO ONE CARES ANYMORE on here

In response to the 'minor tweaks and blower attached to the Astra. The turbo charging on the Astra has little to do with the engine being a poor design or hasty lash up to get more power(it was designed from the 2.0 16v engine but completely re-engineered by Audi for Vauxhall in order to run with a blower) but more to do with what they wanted from the car. The 2.2 16v is a revvier engine and can be easily bored to 2.4 litres and balanced to rev much higher than the 2.0 Turbo but for the European marketplace small turbo engines sell better, as the torque characteristics at low revs (loads more than a CTR anywhere in the rev range) make the car very driveable.

For someone who doesn't care you really do seem to care a lot

I wonder how a CTR would perform with a well set up turbo bolted on??

think someone on here may have said before that there was a turbo now available for it, think it put it to 280bhp but dont take my word on it.

I don't care about someone saying their car is 'faster'. But I don't like it when people slate turbo charged cars because they think you just bolt on a turbo and away you go.

I have seen a blown CTR and I guess they must work but I don't know how much internal modifications would be needed to make one which would be reliable under constant high boost.
