Will you ever need to fill the boot up with something bigger than a suitcase ?, like a sofa, or a washing machine ?

Just think of how practical the car needs to be

the hatch is obviouly far more superior why on earth do you need to think about.....I mean come on who would want an old boys car like a coupe

joking....as said above practicality is about the best way to decide. Also the coupe will still be sold for another year or so along side the astra H (mk5) so a coupe may be a more sensible purchase when it comes to depreciation.

    re: Astra Coupe or Hatch

The coupe is a practicle famly car.

    Thats if you have kids?

My 13 year old cries at thought of it going.

After having the coupe for 2 years I would not swap it for a 3 door or 5 door, no way.

Its got a large boot no problem there, the back seats go down to make more space, loads of room in the front, no sun roof as std so if your tall like me no head room problems.

Only thing though only two seat belts in the back.

Cannot understand why they did not sell more.

I was in the same dilema as you, back in Februrary.

I was tempted by a 1.8 Coupe, and there was a choice of a newer SRi Hatch.

To cut to the chase, I decided on the Hatch because.

It was more practical, I liked the looks, It was faster, ok, not by much, but it was faster Also, my insurance was cheaper!

I think that the Coupe is more of a 'touring car' so to speak, I.e. suited to long drives up and down the motorway etc. however, its just as good around town.

in the end its up to you to decide, but I'm happy with my choice, I'm sure you'll be pleased with whatever you decide upon!

Coupe tends to come with a nicer interior if it has the leather pack and goes better.

Nice big boot too. Unfortunately, the opening is far too small which for me means I have to hire or borrow a van when taking monitors bigger than 15" to a client.

The coupe or hatch debate has gone on for a long time. It all boils down to which you like the look of most.

The weight, speed and handling between the two is identical when all said and done.
