    Broken Car Key

Ok... Im not going to tell you how I did it because I feel so stupid, but I snapped my Car Key in half the other day. I still have the spare so pheeeww!!!
The question is can I just get one cut from the spare as a normal key and still use the bottom half of the key fob on the original to unlock/lock the car and use the newly cut key in the ignition, or do I have to have a complete whole unit?

Richie - whatever key is in the ignition has to have the transponder to switch off the immobiliser, at least when starting.

Richie, take the lot to a key cutter and explain the situation.... he will probably be able to cut the key correctly so that you could mount it in the existing plastic mount in place of your half key! then you still have the transponder.

If he manages to fit it in the plastic bit, do you reckon it should work?

I think Vauxhall have got you on this one. Check with a key cutter if you can get the new key fitted into your fob.

I doubt if you will tho.
