What do people think of the 1.8 Mk4 Astra SXi's......?

    Hi,

I am going to look at an Mk4 Astra G 1.8 SXi over the next couple of days and wondered what people thought of them, and any good bad point I should know about? Its in standard trim with 46k on the clock.

Any info appreceiated so I can go armed to do a deal.

    Cheers

    Mark

    Sound.
Should have discs on the rear, decent enough engines. Just as fast as a 2.0

Not sure if it has disks on the rear mate, I have seen pics of it, but it has 4 stud 15" alloys, I thought all 1.8's had 5-stud, but this one is advertised as a 1.8 and it has four stud? Its star Silver, w reg with 46K. should get it for £3800 hopfully, as its adverised for £3999.

more than likely its the same engine thats in chris's (M7ACD) sport and they arent shy off the mark i was pushing him in my dads 1.8 Mondeo and chris's car could shift top speed is not too bad think we both had around 130mph+ out of the two cars but the astra had the better accleration compared tot he mondeo!

yep i think the 1.8's are quite nippy... v6 2.5 vectras have a hard time beating them in a sprint (maybe top speed) and audi TT couldn't get away... you could smell he was booting it

    so yeh ...

I love mine... just don't like the petrol it goes through.

It's not terrible by any means but i've been doing a lot of miles lately and have really noticed it.

I get 300 or so miles to a tank.

They are fast though and after lowering mine it handles very well.

    well i have a 1.8 16v sxi and i love it

it does have discs on the rear but mine is a 52 plate

it is also a 4 stud as only the ones with ABS have 5 studs

also mine has 16's and not 15' wich they changed at a later date

the engine that will be in yours will be the 115bhp model where as the newer ones like mine have the 125bhp engine

but dont let this put you off as both have the same torque amounts and thats what gives you the 0-60

so get your self one and a nice set of 17's to go on it
