    Gear stick/box problems

    MK4 G 1.6 8V

It`s become even harder to change gears recently, yesterday it just wouldn`t go into fourth and everytime I went from second to third the gear stick jumps from second into neutral. The general changing of gears has got a lot harder.

If I was to replace it with a B & M Short shift kit, would this sort the problems?? If not, I guess it`s back to Vauxhall.

Could just be alignment, I had similar problems on my Mk3.
Get a mechanic to check it over before it gets worse.

Or the gearbox is shagged. Both my Clio and Laguna both lost a load of gears when the 'boxes died in them (105k on the Clio, 90k on the Goonie). Recon gearbox each fixed the problem.

    How is the clutch feel?

Mine got notchy and then lunched the clutch disc (it came out in fragments)

Another possibility is a leaking clutch master cylinder, the clutch will disengage OK, but after pressing the pedal down the clutch starts to creep closed. This makes for interesting changes as well
