    hesitation/jerking not solved

You may have look at some previous posts about my car hesitating and jerking about when applying the accelerator. Mainly have the trouble when im crusing along/coasting then go to accelerate(fast or slow) and the car jerks like im kangaroing it from a set of lights. I thought i had the problem solved when i had the RPM sensor replaced. Still trying to find the problem but not had much luck yet so id be gratefull if anyone knows what it could be

I noticed the throttle cable had alot of slack on it where it joins the throttle body so i adjusted something which made it tighter but it didnt really make a massive difference

    Can anyone help please.

these are the worst problems to get, areas to look at are loose or bad earth to engine, arcing of ht components, fuel filter, spark plugs, loose aor faulty injector electrical connections ( run the engine and do a wiggle test ), dirty maf sensor, bad connection or damaged wires to the crank/cam sensor

    re: hesitation/jerking not solved

I just got a mk4 Astra sport 1.8 on a T plate recently, and from day one it was hesitating, kangarooing when pulling away and surging when holding a constant speed.

took it back to garage, and they found no error codes. they replaced MAF sensor anyway.

Still no better, took it back and they renewd both the cam and crank sensors... again still no better... took it back and they wer stumped... they eleiminated ignition coil simply because it wasnt doing it all the time, they also eleiminated the timing belt for that reason.

They wanted me to leave the car with them for the day to have a good check over it, I told them bugger that I need the car, so on my way home I bought sum wynns carb cleaner... removed throttlebody cheaned it out, and popped it back on the car. (dont forget a new gasket)
took it for a run, and I have no more hesitation, and its 100% more responsive.

So I suggest you take a look @ the throttle body to see if its full of crap before you do anything like buy expensive sensors.

Boydy there was a large recall due to faulty valve problems on the 1.8 engine, wonder if it is anything to do with this, maybe you should ring vauxhall head office with your vin and double check it's not been missed, just a thought...

I have cleaned the throttle body out already and the spark plugs have been changed.

How often does a fuel filter need changing?.

Maybe ill take a look at the MAP sensor to see if its dirty and have a look at a few connections

This really is starting to feck me off now

    Anymore suggestions anyone?.

    re: hesitation/jerking not solved

Dunno if this applies to your car or engine, but ere goes.

    X18XE1,X18XE1,X16SZR| X18XE1

    Complaint
Hesitation while driving around between 40 - 80 km/h with constant speed. While accelerating the engine hesitates up to the 3000 RPM. Also during deceleration the engine hesitates. Above 120 km/h there are no driving problems.

On the top of the EGR valve you will find 2 rows of numbers
    IE
    98055
    05592
    (is mine)

    Step 1:
Check Delphi part-number (first row of numbers)
If the number is 00272, the EGR-valve is OK.
If the number is 98055, continue with step 2.

    Step 2:

Check the 4th digit (build year). on the second row
If there is a "0", the EGR-valve is OK.
If the number is "5" or "6" or "7" or "8", the EGR-valve is NOK.
If there is a "9", continue with step 4!

    Step 4:
Check the 1st to the 3rd digit (build day). on the second row
If the number is from 244 to 365, the EGR-valve is OK.
If the number is from 001 to 243, the EGR-valve is NOK.

Only if the EGR valve turns out to be NOK according to the checking procedure, replace EGR valve.

The costs for this repair will be covered for vehicles not older than 6 years
and a mileage lower than 100.000 km.

    EGR valve partnumber 17200272
And now I know my EGR valve needs replacing too .

    My rusty (faulty) EGR valve

The above infomation was taken from Vauxhall TSB.[/img]
