having done the de-restricted airbox and performance filter job, what would happen if you cut a nice round hole in the bottom/side of the airbox and modded an air hose to the right place to get more air?
you will aid air suction as long as it doesn't suck in hot air.
Cant Think of Anything Funny To Say
is it a mk3?
have you taken the resonator box off? once you do that, you can add another cold air feed, say from a hole in the bumper, to the hole where that used to be. then you have no worries about it suckin in hot air, like what happens if you just drill holes all over it.
If you look in the how to's you can fit a vectra c inlet pipe to replace the existing (dampened?) air inlet piping. Works out about £12 or so from vauxhall for the bits cheap mod
ideal place is somewhere where the air can flow as straight as possible with as few bends as can be helped.
check the grille, where the standard air feed comes out of the airbox to behind the grille. there might be some plastic baffling moulded into the grille effectively covering the opening to the air feed. if it has got these bits of plastic, whip the grille off and hack them out with a stanley knife so the air can get into the air feed more easily.
i wouldn't like to say about the insurance. who can tell what they're gonna say!
i don't know what the mk4 airbox is like, but on a mk3 it looks like this (once all the crap tubing has been ripped out, lol):
see that hole on the bottom? that goes to the resonator box. you should be able to get to that by either removing the airbox, or taking the wheel arch liner off. unbolt the resonator box and bin it, along with all the associated tubing. then just run a new air feed into that hole. this is assuming a mk4 is similar to a mk3.
ps - this is the bit of tubing inside the airbox which also should be binned:
see how it directs all that lovely air down to the resonator box. your engine could be using that air to make even more lovely power!
