    Immobilizer/Insurance Questions

Right since I have put the bodykit on the motor my insurance company(Tesco) has asked for the car to have a Thatcham category 1 or 2 immobilisation sercuity device fitted to my car.

I am led to believe that the immobilizer on mine(1.6 SXI 2002) is a Cat 2, is this correct? I contacted my local Vauxhall dealer to get documented proof of this to send to Tesco but they refused to give this out as it is confidential. How do I get around this? Can I take the motor to any garage and just get them to sign a letter or something?

    Cheers for your help.

I was just told to sign the delecration myself and say factory fitted at time of manufacture or something like that

Or quote TE2-1098/0498 as thats the approval number of the Cat 2 immobiliser you have fitted

    . . . or get a decent Alarm fitted.

    I fully recommend Evolution

Mobile fitting, good prices, and based at Falkirk.
(Devious Dave recommended them to me)

Im sure insurance companies can tell when you have factory fitted security to your car.
I checked my old car on the thatcham website (think its something like www.vsib.co.uk or something) and told Tesco this and they said that was enough. I found out where the immobilsor was and gave them the codes from it and all was ok.

Or like M40COO said get another alarm fitted, you can get cat 1 alarms from about £275 plus all the paperwork to send off to ur insurance
Sold my astra!!! Will be driving a BSM corsa soon!! Then a MK5 VXR Mmmmmm............

I was ust reading thru the manual and read that the immobilizer details are contained on the Car Pass. There is a four digit security code on it, is this the code I am looking for?
