    Remap v Superchip?

    Whats people's opinions

(there arnt many mods for the 1.8 -this is one of them).

My concern is that it would only take an over-enthusiastic engineer at the dealership to reset it back to factory and have to start all over again.

i wouldn't worry about an engineer as they would only fiddle with this if there was something wrong anyway.

Too many people get confused between Re-mapping and chipping. From your point of view because of your car (or indeed any Astra) it will mean exactly the same thing. Most modern cars will have re-maps now to there ECU not 'chips'. Chips used to be used piggybacked mostly on older Fuel Injected cars, now we use re-maps that change addresses on the ECU.
The phrase 'Chipping' is still used because companies like 'Superchips' still use the word chip in their company name.

Re-mapping at various stages depends on modifications.
If you just want a pre-programmed set parameter re-map go for a 'Superchip' down load for about £299.00, this will help with hesitance and flat spots, but that's about it!

I had a my car 'Superchipped' and now have to have this removed so I can have an AmD re-map.
    It can get confusing................................

I'm close to courtney sport - and they are a) a superchip agent and b) able to carry out their own remapping

    these are the 2 options

It depends on what you are wanting to do in the future, if this is likely to be your only mod, and/or including filters and exhaust then fine get a generic downloaded re-map (Super chip).
If you plan more serious mods then you want to look at custom re-map.

Be aware that if you fit a 'Superchip' and then want to custom re-map after, the 'Super chip' will have to be removed first. This is the problem I am having at the moment!

    Hope this helps

'Superchips' quote a 10% increase on n/a, I would say it's more like 6% realistically!

I'm after clearing some of the in-gear rev dropping and making the car more drivable in the long run, any performance increase is welcome tho
