    Brakes

My brakes squeak all the time under light breaking. I've been told its brake dust and should try something like EBC greenstuff pads as they are low dust pads.

Anyone recommend pads they use that are good? Got astra 1.6 16v MK4

Is it the front or rear brakes?...if it's the rear sounds like they need a bit of a clean out pull the drum off and drench the whole lot with brake cleaner then emery paper the drum and shoes off and wash again with brake cleaner put a little copper slip where the shoes touch the back plate to stop them sticking...if it's the fronts pull the pads out and if ok apply copper slip to the rear of them and reassemble...just done this to the wifes Bertone this afternoon as she was complaining of a squeak...could be her age!!!!! :P

    re: Brakes

my brakes started doing this when they were getting quite worn. that might be your problem. the greenstuff brakepads are a good choice though.

Cheers for the help. Pads are 60% worn. Brake noise is most defnitely fronts. Was going to take the pads out and have a general cleanup anyway so seems a good moment for better pads.

Greenstuff pads IMO are pretty poor. Like Ferrodo personally, but thats just preference. For a 1.6 Greenstuff would be adequate, plus they lay down less dust so thats always good
