What would people recommend as the better timer to use on the astra's..?? I am thinking about a Greddy that has speed sensing etc. Or an Apexi.
I run the Apexi full auto timer, it works well and has the small control unit and seperate hide away box.
I didn't pay alot for it as it came from Japan, but I prefer the Latest Blitz DC one TBH
Blitz DTC II - works fine on my Turbo
so how does this turbo timer work then :?
what is it meant to do .
Just works out how hard U thrash the car, and then lets it idle when you stop, U can lock it, take the car keys and walk away, with the car still running, letting the oil cool the turbo.
ok cheer's mate ,sound's like a must have ,something else to add to my already growing shoping list lol
I have a Greddy turbo timer on mine, which I got from a guy in Australia.
It has the interlock to the handbrake and the speed sensing, to shut off the timer automatically based on speed etc, but I never use that function.
The Greddy is the only one I've seen so far which has the safety interlocks on it to shut the engine down if someone trys to drive the car or releases the handbrake. I don't know if the Apexi either doesn't have this or it isn't being connected up
Sounds like a timer is a necessity (I remember a mate's Renault 5 GT's turbo fan going on for ages after we'd parked) so why don't Vauxhall fit one as standard. Do you only need one if you are wellying the engine all the time?
The Blitz one is wired into the alarm IIRC. I can walk away from mine locked and it will immobilise once shutdown. Got no concerns about security anyway so makes no odds to me personally.
Jonathan - if you drive the car hard then these are quite good. I noticed mine is leaving the car idling for longer since the remap, so it has picked up the extra work of the turbo from the new software
I have one the same as LN.boost gauge as well. small and neat , nice piece of kit.
