    Help me plz!

I know this should probably be in the Chit Chat section, but i rekon itll be more noticed in here.

I am currently trying to write my business plan for the business i am intending to set up, which is a shop selling aftermarket parts for all types of car (alloys, kits, susp etc etc). This is a much needed asset to my area, as we are severely lacking in a decent one in and around where i live.

To get to the point, i need your help people. I need some statistics on modified cars. I need info like when it all originated, how big it has got, what sales are generated annually, the future growth of the modified car industry etc. I am after data which is relatively accurate, along with facts and figures to back it all up.

I know i am asking a hell of a lot, but so far my searches for this information have been limited in results, and so i am turning to you lot. It seems quite a few are involved in the industry, and so i am hoping some of you can help me. Any info you can find for me, no matter how small the amount, id appreciate!!!!

Please pm me with anything you know of or find out!

    Thanks in advance.

    Matt.

Modding started i would say in the 60's, the gangsters modded there Jag engine to beat the police.

70's it mainly on the F**ds that were being modded, as well as yankie cars and MG's/ROver.
Cant Think of Anything Funny To Say

The following is taken from www.street-racers.co.uk - hope it helps

Modifying cars has been a popular past time for as long as cars have been about. A car modifying industry has been created by the need for body styling, engine tuning, lowered suspension & big bore exhausts.

There is no part of a car that cannot be modified. Taking a bog standard car & modifying it is a statement of individuality & style. Each car is different from the dull package that is supplied by the manufacturers & turned into what the owner wants.

Popular cars for modding are usually small, low insurance group hot hatches but the line doesn't stop there. If you can afford the increase in premium, virtually any car can be modified to look the bo##ocks.

Street Racers will be bringing you a range of cars you can look at that are just begging to be modified.

Peugeot - All small cars from Peugeot have been popular with the modifying scene. The 106, 206 & 306 pugs are no exception, they have loads of modifying parts available & once the modding is complete any Pug looks absolutely wicked. http://www.street-racers.co.uk/cars/peugeot/index.htm

Saxo - The Citroen Saxo is one the most modified cars in this decade. There are loads of modifying parts available for the Saxo, everything from body kits to suspension can be bought to turn this little car into a real head turner. http://www.street-racers.co.uk/cars/citroen/index.htm

Corsa - The Vauxhall Corsa is one of the cheapest & easiest cars to modify. They are incredibly cheap to insure even if it has been modified. Even with the arrival of the Corsa C, the Corsa B will continue to be a firm favourite for modifying. http://www.street-racers.co.uk/cars/vauxhall/index.htm

Punto - The Fiat Punto still has a firm foothold in the most modded car list. There are loads of modifying parts & accessories still available for this car which can easily be turned into a real show stopper. http://www.street-racers.co.uk/cars/fiat/index.htm

Clio - Even in it's latest guise the Renault Clio can be a wicked modified motor. The choice of modifying parts is limited in comparison with the cars above but it can still be turned into a car to be proud of. http://www.street-racers.co.uk/cars/renault/index.htm

Civic - Honda Civics have always been a popular choice for modifying & since the film, the Fast and the Furous, they have jumped up once again to be a popular car to modify. http://www.street-racers.co.uk/cars/honda/index.htm

Golf - VW have always made cars that can look cool if modified correctly & with the amount of modifying parts available for the later Golfs you won't go wrong. http://www.street-racers.co.uk/cars/vw/index.htm

If you have a cool modified car then send us a photo and some technical specs for our modded car gallery coming soon. To send us the info click http://www.street-racers.co.uk/submit/submit_car.php
