    Just Bought a 2003 (53) 1.8sri Astra

As the title suggests I've just bought a 2003 1.8sri. (get it on Sunday) I )

    1) The car has covered 6500miles so would you recommend I get them to change the oil and filter before I pick it up even if they say I've gotta pay. If I'm paying how much do ya think this will cost?

    2) What are the service intervals 12,000, 20,000???

    3) I'm getting this car from a vauxhall main dealer. Is this network Q thing any good?

    4) Anybody else have the 1.8sri and do they like em? (any honest opinions please)

Sorry to go on and thanx for readin

the 1.8 is probably the best and most popular all rounder, as far as engines go for the Mk4 astra

network q is very good, it covers quite a few things that the standard warrenty doesnt!

it doesn't do any harm to change the oil and shouldn't be expensive, or u can do it yourslef

service intervals are every 10k miles

If your buying it used from Vauxhall it will come with a Network Q warranty, the car has to have a 114 point check, including service, before it can be sold to you.

I work for Vauxhall and the Network Q is the best on the market warranty wise, they cover most stuff that only the manufacturer would in the first year, at least in a years time when your Network Q warranty expires your Astra will still be under manufacturers warranty, as it had 3 years 60K from brand new.

The service interval is 20k miles or 1 annual year, but as I mention above its been serviced before delivery so make sure your service book and anti corrosion check are both signed, dated and stamped.

I'm sure the 53 1800 is the Z18XE which is a 125bhp engine which is pretty reliable, I havent seen any problems until high mileage which is acceptable.

Any problems give us a email, which dealer are you getting her from?

Thanx for all the welcomes and congratulations on an excellent site. I'm gettin her from Kirkby central in Bolton. My Dad had a few cars of them in the past and they seem ok. So they will do an oil change then will they? Hope so...Traded in a Sh*troen saxo VTR for this so it's gotta be a big improvement on that. The damn thing was fallin apart only 3 yrs old. Thanx again for all your replies and I'll let ya know how I get oo, on Sunday.

Dave... that's pretty close to me and they're a good garage I hear.

www.vxlscc.co.uk is a membership site where you can get discounts from that dealer as far as I know.
