I really hate handbrakes!!!!! Can any1 help

My hand brake is pissing me off something rotten!!

Cars mot is next wk and everyfin is perferc apart from the handbrake!

Ive a 1998 astra mk4 sport, with bosch calipers, and i believe there prone to sticking. Mine were siezed wen i first got the car last month, but i free'd them off and managed to adjust the handbrake to work.

I then re-adjusted it last night and got it to work perfect with 4 clicks. And apparently its supposed to be 3, so i thought to myself, "No problem, no messing about with winding calipers in and out, just few turns on the cable")

did this, but then the passenger wheel kept jamming on!!! And no matter what i did i cant get it to work properly.Every time the cable is let off, it binds, to free it all i have to do is pull slightly on the calipers arm, moving it about 2mm (where the cable connects) the drivers side is working ok, not brilliant.

So im gonna try replacing the springs on the arms, dont fancy paying £400+ to change to lucas calipers, new pads disks, and cable.

I HATE HANDBRAKES! THOUGHT GETTING A CAR WITH REAR DISKS WOULD DE SOOO MUCH EASIER THAN DRUMS, GOD I WAS WRONG!

just go in and ask them for any recalls to your car and see if they picked the one up on the fasteners on the seat belts they have to tell you free by law, you could also check throught this lot

Don't bother with the dealers mate, go straight to Vauxhall (01582 427200).

Mine had a modification recall on the rear brakes (not you problem tho), the dealer denied it even though Vaux had given me all the gen, inc recall number. Eventually after a bit of 'discussion' they did the job foc.
