    HELP!

    i asked not that long ago on astra-sri if any1 could tell me how to change the gear knob on my mk3 i was told to cut off a green bit of plastic... can i replace this bit of plastic if i need to put the vauxhall one back on? TIA

    Take the gear-lever out of the car.
    This is done by removing the clip at the bottom of the lever (under the gater)

    Place the gear knob in a mug of boiling hot water. This will expand the joint slightly.
    Then using a cloth, give the gear knob a sharp tug!

    That how i did mine. No need to cut it.

    that sounds quite painless ill give that a go thanx mate .. what do i use if i want 2 glue it back on if im putting the vauxhall 1 back in?

    Just make sure you put the right knob in the boiling water! :shock:

    To put it back on you can heat the knob up again.
    Or
    force it on with a bit of glue to hold it in place.

    Can't remember! I think it must do with a bit of force.

    I did go and get a replacemant from the scrappy to save any hassle in replacing the knob. Then pull it off that one,leaving your standard one urm...standard.

    lol.

    Pull up your gear stick gaiter.
    At the bottom of the gearstick there is the pivot point. The pin that it pivots on has a clip roung the shaft. Unclip the clip and remove the pin. You lever will then pull out of the connecting arm.
